Ingredients

Adjust Servings:
6 Raw Banana Boiled and mashed
1/2 Tsp Mustard Seeds
5-6 Curry Leaves Torn in half
1 Green Chillies Large, Finely chopped
1 Medium sized onion Finely chopped
Salt To taste
1/2 Tsp Sugar (Optional)
1 Tsp Lemon Juice
1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
3 Tbsp Chickpea Flour (Besan)
A Pinch Baking Soda
1/4 Tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
Water To create batter
3-4 Tbsp Oil

    To create the Stuffing:

    Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a pan. Add the mustard seeds. After they splutter, add the curry leaves, followed by the finely chopped onion and green chillies. Saute for a minute. Add the boiled and mashed bananas. Add salt to taste, turmeric powder, sugar and lemon juice. Mix well and cook on slow flame, covered for a few minutes. The stuffing is ready. Cool it for a bit.

    To create the Batter:

    Add Chickpea flour in a bowl. Add salt to taste, red chilli powder, baking soda and water, little at a time to create a medium consistency batter (not too thick, not too runny)

    Shape balls from the stuffing. Since we are using an Appe pan, ensure that the size of the stuffing balls fit into the cavity. You will get around 12 balls with this stuffing.

    Heat the Appe pan. Drop a little oil into each cavity. Coat each ball with the batter and drop into the cavity. Cook on slow flame until done on one side. Lift carefully with a spoon and hold. Drop a few drops of oil into each cavity, before flipping the half cooked ball to the other side. Cook until done.

    Healthy Wada Pav is ready. Serve hot with Pav and garlic chutney.

    *These Wadas are smaller in size and 2 can be used to stuff each Pav.
